Mary Beth Riley Award for International Service
February 17th, 2008February 17, 2008
A good week has passed since our last post and much has occurred to our upcoming organization. We have received many outreach notices from many of you and thank you so much for your support. We know that new and exciting things will result from our partnerships. As for those who have not taken the opportunity to do so, we still humbly welcome your participation so please do not hesitate to visit our volunteer page and find out how easy it can be to contribute to our cause!
An upcoming chance to participate is the fund raiser being hosted by Santa Clara University at the popular dessert stop Frozo’s.
Date: Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: Frozo’s Frozen Yogurt
Address: 1000 Lafayette Street, Santa Clara, CA
Please come and join us for a pleasant afternoon of frozen yogurts and fun raffle prizes to stores/restaurants like Sweet Tomatoes, Chilis, Frozo’s, Blondies, Wahoo’s and much, much more!
We would also like to note that Girls Helping Girls recently had the honor of receiving the Mary Beth Riley International Study or Service Award from Notre Dame High School that came with a check of $5,000 in acknowledgment of our global awareness and action. This check will then be put to use in an upcoming call to action in Calcutta, India. There, the team will assist the school in constructing its own library and begin an educational program featuring the Four Global Issues- eradicating poverty, increasing access to education, promoting peace, and improving health. If you wish to help with this upcoming event, the following forms of assistance would be gladly appreciated:
1) Funding - Additional funding will be needed not only for the payment of construction materials, but the shipment of school supplies and books as well.
2) Books - Fiction or Non-fiction material will all be greatly welcomed as long as the content is appropriate and in the age range of an elementary-middle school student.
Thank You So Much For Your Concern!
