Girls Helping Girls was born only an idea in 2007. One year later, we are working assiduously to reach girls around the world.
- We have been established through the rigorous selection process to become a Youth Venture and a Public Benefit Corporation. We have also received fiscal sponsorship from One World Children's Fund.
- We have expanded beyond the Bay Area to 12 cities in the United States, and to multiple sites in over 20 countries around the world.
- We trained and mobilized over 30,000 girls worldwide.
- We have raised over $50,000 to provide books, school supplies, scholarships, food and water to support girls’ education and basic needs overseas.
Our Programs
Empower-a-Girl
* Empower-a-Girl has raised over $25,000 to support girls’ scholarships, food, water, and education across the globe
* Empower-a-Girl has provided a table and chair for every girl in its school in India
* Empower-a-Girl has increased access to education and improved the health of girls in India, Ghana, and Kenya
* Empower-a-Girl has purchased uniforms for the girls in each of its sites
* Empower-a-Girl has provided a holistic education and cultural exchange program for girls in all of its sites
Sisters 4 Peace Programs
Transform-Your-World
* Transform-Your-World has mentored and supported over 500 girls across the country and the globe to create and sustain their own social change ventures
* Transform-Your-World has provided seed funding or in-kind support ranging from $500 to $5000 to every one of its girl-founded businesses
* Transform-Your-World has conducted Inspiration to Change Workshops for over 2,000 girls to connect them with women leaders, including Latin America's first female Prime Minister, Dr. Beatriz Merino
Fund-for-Respect
* Fund-for-Respect has engaged over 2,000 girls in learning about real beauty and self-respect
* Fund-for-Respect has raised over $10,000 to advocate against sex trafficking around the world
* Fund-for-Respect has built a library for the daughters of commercial sex workers in Kalighat in India
* Fund-for-Respect has purchased school supplies and personal care items for girls at risk for sex trafficking across India
* Fund-for-Respect has organized and implemented two Peacebuilding Summits to provide self-esteem building, vocational training, business and leadership skills to victims of prostitution and the sex trade in India
Raise-It-Up!
* Raise-It-Up! has raised over $15,000 to provide loans to women to launch their own microbusinesses
* Raise-It-Up! has provided business enterprise training to a total of 200 women to become economically self-sufficient
* Raise-It-Up! has designed and implemented four income-generation programs for women in Africa and Asia
